Zoom is a helpful platform that many of our leaders have used before. Those have used it for confirmation classes, bible studies, and pastoral care visits. One of the benefits of Zoom is the ability to have break out groups where the host can assign people into different online small groups, this feature is available through monthly subscription. Google Hangouts is a platform that is free and used in many of the school for their online classrooms. A benefit of this platform is the familiarity with students and ease to create an account.
Instagram and Facebook
Speaking of platforms…Instagram and Facebook both have a live feature that allows for an interactive chat box while video records. One leader mentioned having a Q&A session while on Instagram. It should be noted that more often parents use Facebook and students use Instagram. GNJ has instructions for Facebook Live on their technology pages.
Marco Polo is an app that records video and can be sent to groups which are saved, it can be helpful for continued connection and even devotionals.
Tik Tok is a newer platform that is extremely population with youth similar to a former app called vine. A few leaders suggested using the platform to create activities with students such as skits, challenges, and community.
