PLAN YOUR YEARLY DISCIPLESHIP CALENDAR

A New Course in the GNJ Leadership Academy

June 16, 30 and July 7 from 7 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.
Discipleship doesn’t happen one weekend or week per year. Discipleship is an intentional journey, in a local community of faith, which is rooted in year-round relationship. While many of us wrestle with dwindling resources and fewer young people: there is still hope!

By developing a yearly Discipleship Calendar, all congregations can create a journey for young people to connect with God, grow in faith, and lead in the church and community today. In this course you will develop a yearly Discipleship Calendar, learn how to facilitate small group conversations with youth, and identify ways to raise youth into leadership positions in the congregation. You’ll leave this course ready for a year of ministry with young people in your congregation and community!

This course is recommended for the volunteer or part-time youth leader at a congregation with up to 15 youth grades 6 – 12 who don’t meet regularly. Youth are welcome to attend.  Facilitated by Eric Drew, Executive Director of Next Generation Ministries

Session 1: Connect
The first verb in the Next Gen Mission Pathway is CONNECT. As leaders, we want to plan gatherings where young people can connect with God and one another. This happens through events which are welcoming and engaging.

Session 2: Grow
The second verb in the Next Gen Mission Pathway is GROW. As leaders, we must provide opportunities for young people to grow in their faith. This happens through developing relationships and small group discussion.

Session 3: Lead
The culmination of the Next Gen Mission Pathway is LEAD. We believe that the next generation of disciples are the leaders that the church needs today. This happens by affirming the gifts in young people and creating space for them to share their passion.
